Yeah, the no calls on the hits to the head, particularly of Newton, were pretty brutal last night. The thing is, I’d be okay with it if the NFL was consistent with their officiating. Newton, Roethlisberger and Wilson are three that I can think of that can essentially get murdered and nothing happens. If those same hits were on Eli, Brees, (or heaven forbid) Brady, there would be flags and probably an ejection. I’m curious to see what kind of fines the league office doles out this week.

Seriously. I hope those guys at least get fined. Problem is, fines don’t bother them and won’t change behavior. I hope Steratore’s crew is significantly downgraded for missing all those calls. If not, the NFL clearly doesn’t give a shit about player safety.

Put some sort of G force monitor on helmets. Set it at a certain threshold. Automatic flag when it’s exceeded, automatic concussion check as well.

I’m sure there are obvious flaws with that, but seems worth testing.
